Fees & Rebates
At Eastern Suburbs Psychology, all of our highly skilled psychologists offer Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and Eating Disorders Care Plan (EDCP).
Medicare & Psychology
Since everyone’s psychological health journey is unique, it is your responsibility to keep track of your Mental Health Care Plan and ensure it is up to date to access your rebates. At Eastern Suburbs Psychology we offer on the spot rebates for your session. Like any specialist referral, your GP is the first port of call and will be the person who makes the referral and manages any re-referrals in the future.
As of 2025, if you have an eligible Mental Health Plan, the government will provide you with a rebate or pay part of the costs for accessing psychological services.
If you see a Registered Psychologist, you will get back:
$96.65
If you see a Clinical Psychologist, you will get back:
$141.85
Steps to accessing a psychologist referral (MHCP or EDCP):

-
Make an appointment with your GP or Paediatrician
-
If you request a referral, your GP will complete a short assessment and refer you to your chosen psychologist.
-
A mental health care plan entitles you to 10 sessions that qualify for a Medicare rebate. After your sixth session, you must schedule a follow-up with your GP for a review to receive another four rebates (10 total).
-
It’s your responsibility to track the number of sessions you’ve had and provide your psychologist with a valid referral at or before your first session.
-
It is your psychologist’s responsibility to write to your GP after the 6th and 10th sessions.
-
An eating disorders care plan entitles you to 40 rebated sessions per calendar year.
-
It is always your choice whether to use an MHCP or an EDCP; you do not need a referral to see a psychologist.
Payment
Cost per session is between $260-$290 for individuals.

Full payment is required at the time of consultation and is accepted by credit card. Your rebate will be deposited into the account you have linked with Medicare. To make this process as smooth as possible, please send your referral to our admin staff PRIOR to your appointment.
Cancellation Policy
What is our cancellation policy?

At Eastern Suburbs Psychology, we require 48 hours' notice, i.e., two full days' notice, before the day of your appointment.
-
If an appointment is cancelled more than 48 hours prior to your appointment, no fee is charged
-
If an appointment is cancelled within 48 hours, 100% of the session fee will apply.

The aim of our policy

When you make an appointment with us, we set this time aside for you with an experienced clinician. Late cancellations or no-shows disrupt the clinicians' diaries, and it often means that we are unable to offer this time to someone who is waiting to access therapy. Unlike brief medical appointments, filling a psychology appointment that runs for 50 minutes at short notice is impractical. As such, we have a strict cancellation policy in place.
To help you cancel or reschedule your appointment in a timely manner, you will always receive an appointment reminder text three days before your appointment.

You are reminded of our cancellation policy when:

-
Booking your initial consult (all details are included in the welcome pack you sign)
-
With every appointment reminder
-
When reading our website

Cancellation/No show fees are payable the day of the scheduled appointment.

How can I cancel an appointment?
Please call reception on 0407274470 to let us know about the cancellation. If we are attending to another patient and are unable to answer your call, please leave a voicemail advising of cancellation. Alternatively, you may send an email to monica@easternsuburbspsychology.org, replying 'no' to your reminder text.
What if myself or my child is sick on the day of their appointment or has COVID?
We understand that sometimes people get sick, and we request that you do not come into the clinic if you feel unwell. Please phone or email reception to request a Telehealth session instead.
